지방중소도시계획에서의 콤팩트시티 개념 적용에 관한 연구 : 일본 아오모리시를 사례로

일본 아오모리시를 사례로 중소도시계획에 콤팩트시티 개념을 적용하는 방안을 연구했다.

In these days, there are some arguments about compact city in urban planning area as the concerning of experts is focused on continuous city development. It is a basic concept of compact city that taking a serious view of local communities and urban planning programs which applied functions of the city within the center of the city. But debates and studies about this concept and study area lack in South Korea, for examples, application in spatial area, urban developments, planning and redevelopment of old center of city.

The effects of the compact city are so huge that it can improves the rate of land usage, quality of life, unity of local communities, convenience of transportation, energy problems, revitalization of old center of city, environmental problems, and economical circumstances. In last 30 years, middle or small sized cities in South Korea have developed their city circumstances with no any concepts or ideas about effective development, so they failed to make efficient urban area and made very lethal problems like horrible traffic, slum symptoms in central area of city, and sprawl.

Aomori city in Japan already has been shown those problems, and still tryied to solve those with a concept of the compact city. So, we have to apply this paradigm in South Korea situation appropriately, and also we have to keep studying empirical and theoretical operation. The concept of the compact city is one of the continuous city developments. It is expected in revitalization of central area of city, environmental problems, and treatments of the aging society more. Finally, we have to think about this concept as one of solutions of city redevelopments.
