초록
Fengshui theory, which is based on the Yin-Yang and Five Element Theory transmitted for thousands of years, is to provide human beings with healthy and comfortable life through taking fortunes and avoiding ill luck by efficient utilization of environment and land, adapting human beings to the nature, and keeping harmony and balance with the nature. Residential siting is determining the location of living, which is one of three elements of human life, i.e., food, clothing, and shelter. So far, fengshui theory is transmitted among gentry and part of humble classes in the form of siting of both building and tomb.
However, due to reckless housing policy according to the increase of housing demand in the wake of rapid influx of the population into cities after commencement of development policy focussed on growth, there was sizable environmental destruction. And, in the construction work, exposure and timing, both of which are important elements of fengshui theory, were not considered at all. Effect of terrestrial magnetism and exposure to water vein also caused various diseases.
This study introduces fresh doctrine of Hyeongong I-Gi of fengshui theory, and focuses on how we should utilize it to implement harmonized and balanced development, preventing reckless one, and on how we could bring about happy life for human beings. In residential siting, we can reduce errors when we carry out constructions based on correct judgement on the configuration of the ground, bearing, timing from the beginning of them. However, after the construction of the building, various phenomena appear which deviate from general fengshui theory, in which cases function of vitality generated from the earth is remarkably weakened.
In this connection, I analysed residential siting of Deshil district which is now under construction, area of 'mountain to the back, river to the front', in which people have been living, development of which is already finished, and vast vacant area, based on the Doctrine of Hyeongong I-Gi, to draw problems, and proposed ideas to utilize topographical remedies as supplementary means.
