This study is concered about the comparison of accuracy between the plan table survey and the transit( local station ) survey in the cadastral boundary survey. Upto the present, the plan table survey is used for the cadastral boundary survey in our country. the plan table survey usually causes both human and mechanical observational errors large enough to raise civil appeals. In this study, thus, both the plan table survey and transit survey were used and the same measurement point were measured from the same surveying station. As the results, the place error was ± 2 cm ~ ± 20 cm in plan table survey, ± 0 cm ~ ± 2 cm in the total station survey.

The results show that the total station survey is considerably accurate compared with the plan table survey in the cadastral boundary survey. Consequently, this study proposes that the total station survey should beadopted instead of the plan table survey in the cadastral boundary survey for the purpose of reducing civil appeals and protecting the right of property.
