Recently, according to the quantitative increase of various spatial information, the necessity of convergence and management system for spatial data that are constructed by government, local government, public institutions is increasing. However, it is not easy to integrate and manage data which are scattered on several departments and that has different identifier assigned to each building or road, and this situation causes inconvenience of administrative work or general user.
For these reason, the government proposed a method to manage and utilize data by assigning UFID(Unified Feature IDentifier) in order to make common attribute fields based on the seamless digital topographic map which is constructed by NGII(National Geographical Information Institute). Nevertheless, UFID has a limitation to utilize because it is focus on some restrictive spatial data management. In addition, it is difficult to find the appropriate system to manage the spatial data nationwide by securing recency and accuracy.
Therefore, to manage the individually constructed spatial data by different organizations, we proposed a management method using the grid system which is the national point number of NGII. In this paper, we are focus on the integration between polygon features in heterogeneous spatial data. We also performed data modeling and database construction for Jongro-Gu in Seoul to validate our method. According to the validation result, the original data and the feature verification result are 100% matched without omission and duplication for the road name address, the continuous cadastral map, and the underground shipping mall.
Moreover, from the result of matching between grid and feature, we found out the state of the grid with the largest number of features, and we could check the feature distribution through visual and spatial statistics and partially detect the temporal change of spatial data. It shows that the grid system can cover various characteristics of spatial data such as frequent updating and diversification of kinds and is suitable for managing heterogeneous spatial data.
