In this study, we attempted to perform cadastral surveying using GNSS-RTK and Compact-GNSS-based mobile Landygo software, compare and review this performance with existing performance, and suggest the possibility of utilization. In order to apply this in practice, an improvement plan for mobile cadastral surveying was presented based on a review of the limitations and constraints for each survey area. The research results are as follows. A research area was selected for the experiment.
The study area is a graphical cadastral area, consisting of a combination of urban areas, agricultural area, and forest area, and an area with a cadastral supplementary control point with proven results was selected. After conducting a GNSS-RTK survey for the study area, Compact-GNSS surveying and electronic plane table surveying were simultaneously conducted for the same boundary point. A total of 17 cadastral supplementary control points were observed using GNSS-RTK and Compact-GNSS survey methods. A total of 352 points were observed and results were obtained: 137 points in the urban area, 89 points in the forest area, and 126 points in the agricultural area.
As a result of the observations, in the case of electronic plane table surveying, observation results were obtained at all points due to the characteristics of ground surveying. In the case of GNSS-RTK and Compact-GNSS surveying, there were no interruptions in satellite information reception in agricultural areas, showing an acquisition rate of 100%, the same as electronic plane table surveying. However, there were relatively many obstacles to receiving satellite information in urban areas(GNSS-RTK 53.3%, Compact-GNSS 80.3%) and forested areas(GNSS-RTK 85.4%, Compact-GNSS 91.0%). Because of this, the acquisition rate was relatively lower than that of electronic plane table surveying.
The obtained observation results were compared and analyzed for positional accuracy, efficiency, and regional applicability. Comprehensively reviewing the analysis results, GNSS-RTK surveying and the new Compact-GNSS surveying are a type of VRS surveying, and sufficient positional accuracy was secured in areas where there are no restrictions on receiving satellite information. However, it was found that there are still limitations in acquiring location information in urban areas or forest areas where there is a possibility of interference with satellite information reception.
It was found that if the Compact-GNSS surveying method is introduced, it will be technically possible to use it immediately in agricultural areas with relatively few vertical obstacles. However, there are limitations to the exclusive use of the Compact-GNSS surveying method in forest areas where satellite signal reception may be impaired due to the influence of trees or in urban areas where satellite signal reception may be impaired due to tall buildings. It is believed that these areas can bring about technological innovation in cadastral surveying if they utilize the strengths of Compact-GNSS surveying in an integrated manner with electronic plane table surveying.
Based on the experimental results of the study, improvement measures were proposed, such as preparing detailed regulations for mobile cadastral surveying, selective application by region, revitalization through linkage with electronic plane table surveying, and technological advancement of the mobile cadastral surveying system.
