18세기 하의삼도 토지소유권을 둘러싼 왕실과 섬주민의 갈등을 다뤘다.
초록
What space did people consider an ``island`` as in the Chosun Period? Indeed, how was the land constructed in islands at that time? Who cultivated the reclaimed land? Who had the ownership of the land? Land in islands was made by cultivating the wasteland or constructing dams and banks. The islanders built banks and blocked the encroaching tide. The salty land appeared inside the banks but couldn`t be used for farmland immediately. The reason was that it wasn`t intact yet and wasn`t suited to vegetation. The islanders cultivated it carefully for a long time. When the bank collapsed in midstream, they repeated constructing a bank. It took at least 10 years to wash out salt water.
By the way, at the time the reclaimed land was begun to be used for cultivated land, the central and regional men of influential appeared claiming the ownership of the land. They commented the ownership of the land calling it ``Dunjun(屯田)``and considered themselves as the owners of the cultivated land naming it ``Kungbangjun(宮房田)``. They forced islanders to give up the right to cultivate the land or to pay their land-taxes. It was so unfair to islanders who had cultivated the land that they couldn`t avoid a conflict with power who claimed their ownership handing the land-documents out. Such cases occurred throughout the southwest islands in Jullado in the latter part of the Chosun Period.
The residents in Haeusam island, Najumok, Jullado didn`t overlook the tyranny of power any longer and sued the royal family at Hansungbu(漢城府) in the 18th century. This is written to examine the effects on changes of the ownership of the land in the islands by the sensitivity of the residents in Haeusam island in the 18th century.
