초록
The n-minute city, which has access to all convenience facilities on foot, is attracting attention as an urban spatial structure necessary in the era of the climate crisis and digital transformation. The Seoul Metropolitan Government also introduced the concept of a daily walking zone, where various activities can be enjoyed on foot within 30 minutes, centering on the house where I live, as the primary goal of the 2040 Seoul Comprehensive Urban Plans. However, arranging the local living services according to the districts does not necessarily lead to the activation of people's walking.
If people pass through arterial roads or deserted crime zones while the distance is close, their satisfaction with the walking environment and their utilization rate may decrease. Therefore, as many destinations are created within an n-minute distance, creating a convenient and attractive journey to the destination of interest is essential in creating a walking-oriented urban spatial structure. In this context, this study analyzed the time patterns and spatial distribution according to the type of walking purpose, using Seoul's linear park as an example.
It revealed the characteristics of linear parks with a heterogeneous combination of green and streets to form linear central spaces in the neighborhood and ultimately contribute to daily walking activities. Based on the theoretical consideration, the characteristics of neighborhood linear parks were defined as follows. As a passage for the living area, it is 20-50m wide, has a total length of 2 km or more, and has an extension to the surrounding area. In order to serve as an adhesive for the living area that residents can safely access, the long axis is continuous, and the short axis is conditional on being connected to a road with less than two lanes.
As a basis for the growth of the living area, facilities that can help commute, care, shopping, and leisure necessary for daily life are expanded to the surrounding area to form a linear central space and facilitating environment. The analysis of walking time patterns investigated the size of the floating population by time at Gyeongui Line Forest Park, Gyeongchun Line Forest Park, Seocho-gu Gilmajung-gil, and Gukhoe-daero Park to reveal the characteristics of walking activities in linear parks in the living area, and compared time series data types to analyze unique rhythms and overlapping patterns for each walking purpose.
First, in proportion to the hierarchy of linear parks, the foot traffic size of linear parks was in the order of Gyeongui Line Forest road Park > Gukhoe-daero Park > Gyeongchun Line Forest Road > Gilmajung-gil. Gyeongui Line Forest Park and Gukhoe-daero Park, which correspond to urban linear parks, had a floating population of more than 20,000 people per day, and Gilmajung-gil, which corresponds to a linear park in the living area, had a size of 6-7,000 per day. The Gyeongchun Line Forest Park, which showed intermediate characteristics between the city and the living area, was about 12,000 people, the middle size.
Second, the walking time pattern revealed a unique rhythm according to the position of peak time for each walking purpose. As a result of standardizing and comparing the form of time series data expressing rhythm, leisure walking appeared in all sections in linear parks, and the incidence rate of commuting, education, care, shopping, and cultural walking was different depending on land use. Through this, it was confirmed that the leisure function of the park and the general street function were performed simultaneously in the linear park. Third, in the walking time pattern, the rhythm of the walking time pattern overlapped with the land use change.
Shopping and cultural walking were high in urban linear parks, and commuting, education, and care walking were high in linear parks in living areas. However, a new walking rhythm was created in addition to the general walking pattern when new industries or infrastructure occurred, such as guest houses or Airport Railroad Express. In other words, walking activities relate closely to the type of land use and facilities in mixed land use; the rhythms of the walking time pattern overlap, and peak times appear several times. For the walking space distribution, the movement paths and activities of Gilmajung-gil users in Seocho-gu were mapped based on a 500m walking distance.
The characteristics of neighborhood linear parks were derived from the viewpoint of corridors, glues, and facilitating grounds. The analysis results are as follows. First, regarding neighborhood corridors, commuting walking was used to use subway lines that were not close to home, and the spatial distribution of education and care walking was within a 500m radius of elementary schools. However, students over ten tended to walk a distance of 1km to areas where the academy was concentrated. Leisure walking is active within the trail, and extended walking was also found to move around 3km or more to the natural environment.
Through this, it was confirmed that the policy practice of linear connection contributed to using residents as a passage for the neighborhood. Second, regarding neighborhood glues, Gilmajung-gil is higher than the automobile road, creating a safe space without intersections. It has become a central space where residents gather in the section where the trails and neighborhood parks meet, and activities have been subdivided into sports, play, sports for all, and forest experiences depending on the type of facilities in the neighborhood park.
However, forming a linear central space requires gradual improvement, like the highway, the gated community phenomenon of new apartments around it, and the few living SOC in the adjacent sections. Third, regarding the neighborhood facilitation ground, Gilmajung-gil was recognized as a place that relieves urban and living stress for office workers and residents. Moreover, it provides opportunities for outdoor activiti
