초록
New development of residential area in a massive scale has been common. in urban growth in Korea. Once an area is constructed with development plan, the area continues to change and form another feature. A study on this residential area focused on this afterward development has incisive importance for the theory of residential area and urban growth. A case study on kalhyon Estate in Seoul (development by Korea Housing Co. 1964-1965, 437 detached dwellings) showed that once the uniform houses form has been changed into various shape according to the change of individual taste, legal condition, and urban development in Seoul.
The area constitues as one of centres in Western part of Seoul, The changing t process is considered as due activity to use/various potentials of the region and the residents. The role of the residents in the development of the area was very active and dynamic, and made the area adapt to various complex needs of the people in urban life. In this sense, the case shows a sharp st with the newly developed Apartment housing estates which have seldom chances of change that an urban environment deserve to have.
